It is alarming how many main-stream politicians are pro-abortion. A few appear wishy-washy in their beliefs. According to the CNN Election Center 2008, popular candidate Mitt Romney began his political lifestyle as a pro-abortionist. Now, he has switched his views to a popular “sometimes” view.

Only Republican John McCain seems to share Romney’s view on abortion: That a baby should be aborted in cases of rape, incest, or for the safety of a mother.

Ron Paul brushes the topic off onto states, instead of making it a federal – and therefore more effective, with harsher punishments – law.

In short, who should you vote for? When it comes to abortion, voting Democrat would be a bad idea. All of the Democratic candidates, as well as Republican Rudy Giuliani, support abortion and would refrain from dealing with the issue accordingly. As for Republican, this blogger supports Republican Duncan Hunter: He opposes abortion, and has attempted to do something against it during his time as a representative of California.

The (pro-abortion “news” service) Associated Press has an interesting article on a campaign by a pro-life woman to get others to acknowledge the scientific reality that life begins at conception:

DENVER (AP) — A 20-year-old law student has become a cause celebre in the anti-abortion movement for her efforts to have the state Constitution define fertilized eggs as people — a tactic spreading nationwide in bids to neutralize the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

The measure spearheaded by Kristi Burton would give fertilized eggs state protections of inalienable rights, justice and due process, and she needs 76,000 signatures to get it on the state ballot next November.

Similar efforts are under way in Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi and Oregon.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw the awakening of a sleeping giant here as conservatives come out to vote on this because of the purity of the bill and because it’s a no-nonsense amendment,” said Keith Mason, a veteran of grass-roots efforts defending Ten Commandments displays and parental notification laws. He is helping the petition effort.

Burton’s so-called human life amendment doesn’t mention abortion. She insists her only aim is to define when human life begins, and any discussion about abortion is up to lawmakers, she said.

“It’s a concrete point in time that we can point to. It’s at the moment of conception, life begins and at that moment we need to protect it. If we don’t do that, then anyone can take away people’s lives at other stages,” Burton said.

From LifeNews.com, the pro-abortion hosts of The View go after pro-life politician:

Hollywood, CA (LifeNews.com) — Republican Rep. Ron Paul recently became the first 2008 Republican presidential candidate to make an appearance on The View. Much of his seven minute appearance on the show had to do with the topic of abortion as the pro-abortion hosts of the program gave him grief for his pro-life position. Whoopi Goldberg, a Planned Parenthood advisory board member, went after Paul saying that “nobody makes this decision lightly.” Yet, as Newsbusters blogger Justin McCarthy observed, co-host Joy Behar occupied most of the segment attacking Paul’s abortion position. “Though Behar admitted she believes killing a child immediately before birth is ‘murder,’ she asked ‘what about the first month?’” Ron Paul then asked Behar if she would be okay with a law “that says abortion should be done no later than at six weeks gestation.” Behar avoided the question claiming she is “not happy with abortion, period.” At the end of the segment, wealthy actress Kate Walsh asserts that if Roe is overturned only wealthy women in states that disallow abortions will be able to travel to obtain them. That’s a small price to pay, counters Paul, for the reduction in partial-birth abortions, but Walsh doesn’t respond.

Whoopi Goldberg said that “no one makes this decision [to kill an unborn child] lightly,” and yet she herself has joked about having many abortions. Many pro-abortion people make light of abortion, such as pro-abort comment posters making fun of photos of killed children to the pro-abortion extremist Caitlin Moran, whose doublespeak know no bounds and said, and I quote, “I’m not being flippant when I say it took me longer to decide what work-tops to have in the kitchen than whether I was prepared to spend the rest of my life being responsible for a further human being.” Sick and evil.

The AP reports that the driver of the anti-abortion/pro-life truck featuring photos of aborted children won’t be charged with disorderly conduct:

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — A suburban Atlanta prosecutor has dropped a disorderly conduct charge against an anti-abortion activist who was arrested for driving a truck emblazoned with images of aborted fetuses.

Gwinnett County Solicitor Rosanna Szabo said the display of the images, “as shocking and offensive as they are,” didn’t violate the law.

Police had arrested Robert Dean Roethlisberger Jr., 44, of Missouri near the Mall of Georgia on the day after Thanksgiving, when he refused to remove images on a “Truth Truck” owned by Operation Rescue, an anti-abortion group. Police, who said the images violated the law because they were “obscene and vulgar,” also impounded the truck and removed the banners.

If the actual images were some kind of pornography, then of course it would be illegal. But the display of something that is LEGAL and still DISGUSTING and evil shows that the problem is with the actual act, not with showing how it’s legal and yet disgusting. Even as pro-abortion writer Naomi Wolf said, these images are, after all, the truth.

Here’s a photo of the truck in question abortion_truck.jpg WARNING: has photos of abortion on it.
